ALL TIME HIGH – this year's collection beats all past records

A record number of people have contributed to this year's fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Association. 233 000 Swedish kronor (SEK) was the goal for this year's collection. It may seem like an odd amount, but that sum now means that Olofsfors AB, with private individuals and companies around Sweden together have gathered just over SEK 1,6 million for cancer research, since the start in 2010.

– "I'm really, really happy," says Kjell-Erik Åström, Sales and Marketing Director at Olofsfors AB. We had a target of 233 000 SEK for this year, and we have as of today reached 234 740 SEK. That means this year, we have reached 1,6 million in total, but this is also a new record for a single year.”

In 2010, when Olofsfors started its collection, the company auctioned off a pair of pink forest machine tracks for the benefit of cancer research.

– “It was when a colleague made the connection between the Pink Ribbon and our forest machine tracks that we came up with the idea of auctioning off, a pair of pink Tracks. The highest bid from a company receives the track, and that sum is donated to cancer research. Only one company could contribute then. Now everyone can participate", says Åström.

Together we can make a difference
For 10 years, between 2010 and 2020, companies in the forest industry had contributed almost 1 million SEK via Olofsfors’ collection. In 2020, when Olofsfors changed the conditions so that more people could contribute, the amount increased rapidly. Olofsfors created their own fundraising page at the Breast Cancer Association and donated a pair of pink forest machine tracks to them. After "Pink October", the Breast Cancer Association has in turn, raffled off the bogie track to a company or a person who donated a gift of 5 000 SEK or more.

- “Thank you, to all of you who engaged and contributed in the Olofsfors Pink Ribbon fundraiser. We are Sweden's only interest organization that always and only focuses on breast cancer. To achieve our vision that no one should suffer from breast cancer, we fund research, spread knowledge about prevention, and drive public opinion in breast cancer issues. With Olofsfors’ fine grants, we can continue to be at the forefront and fund vital research." says Marit Jenset, Secretary General of the Breast Cancer Association.

On Saturday, November 12, Olofsfors and the Swedish Breast Cancer Association will draw for the lucky owner of the 2022 Pink Track. There are 35 companies that have contributed at least 5 000 SEK or more and are part of the draw. It will take place during the Annual General Meeting of Forest Entrepreneurs. Another 10 draws, in addition to the one that receives the Track will receive a special invitation to visit the factory in Olofsfors.

- ”We are pleased with the feedback we have received from our contractors and other private individuals, where more people have wanted to contribute because the auction not did it possible. Through a deeper collaboration with the Swedish Breast Cancer Association, we have made it possible for everyone to participate, says Maria Öhman, Marketing Manager at Olofsfors. ”I already have an idea for next year where I hope we can raise the collection to another level.”

A big thank you, to everyone who contributed and an extra thank you, to all those who contributed with 1 000 SEK or more.
